123-reg hosting (Webfusion) is rubbish.

Update: In this post I describe a recommended web host.

For a domain registrar, 123-reg have always been my preferred choice.

The prices are reasonable and the control panel for domain management clear and easy to use.

Their hosting service (provided by Webfusion) on the other hand is another story. I recently went with their mid level hosting package to install a WordPress site on. During peak time, you get 20 minute ‘windows’ where the server actually responds.

Oh, Hi connection reset.

This is punctuated with anything from 5 to 30 minutes of internal 500 errors and connection resets.

An email to their technical support brings no response at all. So here is my SEO friendly response.

By the looks of it, I am not the only one with problems.

Update: I am in contact with somebody who is helpful at the moment, but the problems are still occuring.

I agree! 123 reg hosting is rubbish!

I’ve had a Internal Server Error 500 error now for at least 10 hours with no feedback or help at all!

Do you know any good, reliable, fast hosts I could use for my WordPress site? Preferably UK based ?

Stuart, I have found Lithium Hosting to be reliable, cheap and contractless (cancel within a month).

You can pick the location of your server when you purchase hosting with them. Their Netherlands one will be fine for you.

I could not agree more. I am stuck with them until November because I bought the pro package for hosting my clients at a pretty penny, so I can not afford to leave until then.

Apart from the server resets, the loading of site is slow, the php version is out of date and you can not transfer within the control panel (so you have to upload everything from local.

The CMS (fusion apps) are out of date and unstable if updated, so you have to load complete CMS software from local to get a stable release.

Ad the web hosting section crashes with the touch of a feather.

      V-poor!!

I am going with Go Daddy next time, at least they use CPanel.

Hi Simon. When a company consistently lets you down and does nothing to improve their service after being notified of the problem, all we can do is spread the word, and we are – by putting our experiences out in the open.

This page gets around 60 hits per month and will make a difference.

I wrote this post over a year ago and the reliability of my clients sites that are on 123-reg hosting are still terrible.
